In 1889 he bought The Old Hall, which he extended and comprehensively renovated. He died in 1901.

Thomas Spencer (1852-1905), co-founder of Marks and Spencer. He lived out his short retirement in Whittington and is buried in St Giles churchyard.

Colonel Bassett Seckham inherited the Old Hall from his father, Samuel, in 1901 and lived there until his own death in 1925.

Charlotte Britt (nee Hardman), born in Whittington in February 1843, died 1916.

Thomas Britt, son of Charlotte - a Whittington soldier who fell in WW1 in July 1916. His mother died in the same month.

Hennis & Isabella Pass about 1912 with daughter, Elsie May, and spaniel, Dragon. Pass Avenue is named after the family.

Bob (John Robert) Beckett, who lived most of his life in Whittington. He died aged 75 in 1946.

Twin brothers - Maurice and Eric Fisher - born in Church Street, Whittington, in 1919.

Maurice made an immense contribution to community life in Whittington and was for many years Chairman of the Parish Council.

Alice Capper (with her daughter-in-law, Katherine) lived at Cappers Mill until she died in 1918.

Cappers Lane is named after the family which ran the Mill through the 19th century.

Frederick Mann (ca 1872-1939) farmed Rock Farm from about 1901, probably with his brother, Thomas, who took over later.

Nurse Darby - Whittington's much-loved district nurse.

In 1925 she arranged to lodge temporarily with Mrs Leach at Yew Tree House; she was still there 50 years later! In the mid 1960s she was awarded an MBE.

She was a founder (or very early) member of the WI. For most of her life she lived in Hollycot Villas.

John (Gunner) Moore was famed for riding the bull, Wolverdington Lion.
